Community Placement is a winning match for everyone. Be sure to tell your Team if you are already volunteering.
The garden was started in as an opportunity for Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program recipients and their families to get hands-on experience in a supportive work environment while saving on their food expenses. The program has now evolved into a comprehensive work placement program, which allows participants to acquire new skills, expand their existing skills and gain experience to help lead them to self-reliance and more sustainable employment income opportunities.
The program includes workshops in gardening, food preparation, canning and preserving, composting, workplace communications and skills development certificate courses. The Community Garden program runs from April-October. Recipients can register at any time during the program but are encouraged to begin as soon as they can, to get the maximum benefit from the program.
Anyone currently receiving assistance is eligible for the program. Learning, Earning and Parenting is a program for young parents, ages 16 to Through this program, you can work to complete your high school education, prepare for employment and improve your parenting skills.
Additional supports are available to help you attend the program. Upon successful completion of LEAP, you become eligible to receive an educational bursary. Earnings Exemptions. If you obtain full time employment 30 hours plus per week you may be entitled to this benefit. Your responsibilities You are required to attend an employment information session at the second stage of the application process.
You may be required to take a literacy screening test at the second stage if you have not completed grade 12 or its equivalent. If you provide proof of a learning disorder, you are not required to take the literacy screening test. If you are applying to the Ontario Disability Support Program ODSP through Ontario Works and you have assets above the Ontario Works asset limit and you have not previously used the one-time asset exemption, then you are required to complete an Agreement to Reimburse.

The total dollar value of your assets affects your eligibility for assistance.
